ColloidNote is a handwriting note-taking app with AI-powered completions. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how we handle your data.

Information We Collect

When you use ColloidNote, we collect:

• Account Information: When you sign in with Apple, we receive your Apple user ID, and optionally your email address and name if you choose to share them.
• User ID: A unique identifier to manage your account and sync your handwriting style across devices.
• Purchase Information: Records of in-app purchases to provide your entitlements (unlimited notebooks, AI completions).
• Usage Data: We track the number of AI completions you use for billing purposes.

AI Completions

When you request an AI completion:

• Images of your handwritten notes are sent to our server for processing.
• These images are not stored — they are processed in real-time and immediately discarded.
• We use Google's Gemini AI to generate completions. Your note content is sent to Google's API for processing.
• The AI-generated response is rendered in your handwriting style and returned to your device.

Your Documents

Your handwritten notes (.handnote files) are stored locally on your device and in your iCloud Drive. We do not have access to your documents unless you explicitly request an AI completion.

Handwriting Style

To personalize AI completions, we store samples of your handwriting on our server. This data is linked to your user ID and is used solely to render AI responses in your handwriting style.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:

• Google (Gemini AI): Note content for AI processing (not stored by us).
• Apple: For Sign in with Apple authentication and in-app purchase verification.

Data Security

All data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS. Your documents remain on your device and iCloud account under your control.

Data Retention

• Account information is retained as long as you have an active account.
• Handwriting style data is retained to provide personalized completions.
• Note images sent for AI completion are processed in real-time and not stored.

Your Rights

You can request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us. Upon deletion, we will remove your user ID, handwriting samples, and usage records from our servers.

Children's Privacy

ColloidNote is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by other means.
